Has anyone try airbnb in Milan ?

Hi, we are planning to be in Milan this July . We will use milan as a home base to take side trips to lake como, Lugano and portofino. We always book hotels when we go to Europe except for one time that we went to Rome. Our family of four stayed in an apartment that was kindly suggested by one of the person here in the forum. It was a great experience. More than the savings was the ability to bond after a day of sight seeing . We were able to talk about how our day went and to discuss our plan for the next day instead of retiring to 2 separate rooms ( there were four of us) at the end of the day. To me, it felt like we bonded more .

That would not be a trip I'd enjoy. The trip to Portofino is long, and while the others are only about an hour, you'll miss the evenings when the crowds dissipate. For Lake Como, the whole point is relaxing rather than "seeing stuff," and I would have liked it much less if I were not based there for a few nights, but instead was going back to Milan that night.

Hello Sally,
We used hotel Una in Milan for 2 nights near train station Milano Centrale- (they have shuttle buses to the airport every 20 minutes) on our way back to US, but at Lake Como we used amazing house in Lezzeno -10 minutes away by bus from Bellagio from www.airbnb.com site
Our hosts Alan and Barbara were very nice, we had amazing time in their house "Anna"-beautiful and comfortable, their recommendations on what to eat nearby and what to see were very helpful,
we are ready to go back now and the most important- we now have a good friends, and not only on Facebook:)
airbnb experience is always amazing, we use it for 4 years right now and we traveled a lot and love it!
I hope this is helful:)
have a great trip!
