Has anyone taken flixbus from Naples train station to Rome airport?

This looks like a convenient and inexpensive way to travel from Naples train station to Rome Airport. Does anyone have experience doing this? If so, how far in advance, if at all to tickets need to be purchased ? Do buses sellout? We will be traveling on Friday May 1st. Looking at either at 10:00 or 1:10 departure.

Thank you

Haven't done it but might be worth mention that May 1 is a big national holiday in Italy: their Labour Day.
I wouldn't personally do this on the same day as an international flight out of Rome.

We are aware of the holiday and so far tickets are available for that day

I haven't taken the flixbus to Rome from Naples but last October I took it from Salerno, stop in Naples then to Bari. I used the app to book on my phone. I booked the ticket 2 days before leaving. Using the app is very straight forward. I just checked now and I could still book tickets for tomorrow, Naples to FCO, both the 10am and 1:10 departures are still available. So, you might want to download the app now, and check periodically to see if they book up or how much the price changes.

The bus depot is behind the Naples train station. If you're walking there give yourself a few extra minutes, it's really big and not intuitively obvious how to get there.

FYI we booked 'first class' which just meant we got to pick seats in the first few rows. We took seats 3c and 3d. The seats are a little tight but fairly comfortable. My husband felt cramped because the person in front of him sat back and the seat reclined into my husband. He asked the guy to adjust and he did but that poor guy decided to sit forward the whole trip because he couldn't get his seat to lock upright. If you choose regular seating they're not assigned you just walk back and grab a seat. I'm not sure it was worth the few dollars more to get specified seats but it wasn't a very expensive upgrade.

I think even with the change at Termini the train is slightly faster

Not sure how heavy traffic would be and a bus is always dependent on traffic
I imagine buses could sell out so I would purchase in advance
I don’t think there are bathrooms on the bus-that might be something to consider
We found the buses in Spain to be ok but the seats are tight, not very comfortable
You can’t move around at all

Thanks Everyone. Very helpful info. We are a few weeks away from having to decide but this seems like a good option as we are splurging on a driver from Sorrento to Naples, plus not having to transfer is appealing. Will download the app and monitor.
We're also thinking we may visit the archeological museum that day rather than travel during our time in Salerno or Sorrento as it would be an efficient use of our time, but then we would have to schlep and store luggage.

If you are coming by driver from Sorrento to Naples that doesn't really give you much time for museum and to get back to bus station even for the 1:10 bus.
Check the luggage storage at the museum- I know they have lockers but will your bags fit?
Also I think May 1 is a free day at the museum due to holiday.

I find it hard to believe that an infrequent bus limited to 100 km/h can do the trip more conveniently than a 300 km/h train with all the facilities, even with the short time spent changing trains at Termini. And on a mega holiday.

Seems strange to spend lots of money on a driver to Naples to change to a bus.

Check Youtube, many vloggers like to do bus trips so they can post about them. As I recall, sometimes Flixbus can be a disaster.

Haven't done that trip but use Flixbus all the time. Love it. I pay extra for seat IC, aisle by the door so have unobstructed view out the window. Love it. So if you are concerned about Flixbus, don't be.
