Has anyone taken boat tours around Capri?

I have been thinking of taking a Capitano Ago tour. It lasts for eight hours. They pick you at at your hotel, take you to Capri, then you visit Capri for three hours, back on the boat for another maybe 4 1/2 hours then back to the hotel. Has anyone had experience with this or another similar tour? Is it worthwhile? I was wondering if it would be better to take the jet boat on our own, then tour Capri all day then come back. Two alternatives: I am also thinking to take the bus tour from Sorrento to Amalfi, go back to Positano, take the jet boat from there, etc. Or do the boat tour, still do the scenic bus ride the next day, but then take the ferry back to Sorrento. Decisions, decisions! Would appreciate recommendations. Ruth

We stayed in /Sorrento and took the ferry on our own to Capri. When we arrived on Capri, we took the funicular to the top where we then took a bus to the Blue Grotto...yes, the grotto is touristy but the whole scene is so much fun. After the Blue Grotto we took the bus back down to Anacapri and walked all arround the beautiful little town then we took the bus further down back to Capri and had a wonderful lunch. We took the ferry back to Sorrento, just paying attention to the ferry schedule. A terrific day trip. For Positano, we took the ferry over and took the bus back to enjoy the view from above rather the water again. Just riding on the busses in Capri and from Positano to Sorrento is really a unique experience! It will give you a deep appreciation for the skill of Italian drivers! We didn't use guides or private tours for any of these excursions and it was great! Since you'll be in the neighborhood, I have to also mention Pompeii. Just a short train ride (aprox. 30 minutes). We did use a guide for this who was incredible. His name was Alfonso and he was from the company Walks of Italy (www.walksofitaly.com) Absolutely wonderful. Have fun!!
