Driving yourself or riding with someone? If you are not an experienced Vespa/motorcycle rider, Rome is not a good place to learn.

I'd never use a Vespa in Rome. The movie "Roman Holiday" aside.... But hey, if you're young and adventurous ... go for it

The tours offered by Scooteroma are private and pretty expensive, but our four hour tour with them was wonderful, and really informative as well as fun. You can check out reviews on Tripadvisor. They will provide a driver and let you ride on the back. It's true that Rome is not a good place for novice scooter riders. We drove ourselves - scooters are our main form of transportation at home, and we found riding there to be really intimidating.
