Has anyone stayed at Ca' del Dose Camere in Venice?

Hi there-I was interested in this hotel b/c of the location and price but only found one review on tripadvisor. Rick Steves describes it as "rough and funky"...not sure how "rough and funky" it is. I'd love to hear other travelers opinions-thanks so much in advance.

China
We stayed there back in 2006. The hotel is a bit off the beaten path. It is clean -our room was adequate, bathroom small. Do not get one on the alley as we did- it is noisy first thing in the morning with vendors taking their wears to the street. Breakfast comes in a basket - just breads and jams and you can make coffee in your room. That being said the price is right. We are going back in 2010 but have elected to stay at another hotel. By the way right next door is a great little restaurant. We sat in the back of it in a small courtyard. We were tired one evening and just went there, met some people from England and had a great time.
Enjoy Venice it is awesome.

I stayed at the Ca' del Dose in October 2007. The location is terrific, can't be beat. Carlos was the night clerk and he met us on arrival. He was extremely pleasant and helpful. There was someone at the desk only until 11 PM, I believe. The young owner, Anna, was very attentive to our needs. In fact, the first two nights we were housed in a room on the second floor that faced Ca' del Dose and it was noisy into the early morning hours. Nothing major, people walking by laughing, I could hear suitcases being rolled by. The sounds just reverberated off the buildings. When I mentioned the difficulty sleeping Anna moved us to another room in another building that was just around the corner from the main hotel. Breakfast was simple, the rooms clean and big enough. I would stay at the Ca' del Dose again for certain.

I stayed at this B&B a few years ago. "Rough and funky" it is NOT. I stayed in a single, ground-level room and had no trouble with noise. I am an early riser, so AM noise was no problem. I enjoyed the piazza nearby and the shops/cafes there. This B&B is easy to find; I was given detailed instructions for finding it when I reserved my room. If street noise bothers you either get a room away from the street or sleep with the windows closed.

Closing the windows doesn't help. Ask for a room off the street.

Try "Locanda Ca Formosa" China. Great staff, clean and surprisingly large rooms for Venice. Nice breakfast included.A bit hard to find at first, but then everyone gets lost in Venice at least once!
Nicely priced...simple but very comfortable.
