Has anyone heard of auting?

Hello,
I have been researching car rentals near Palermo and came across auting. It is a company where people rent their cars. Has anyone heard of it? Is it reputable? I can't find any info on American drivers. If anyone has any knowledge or used this I would really appreciate it! Thank you

AirBnB for car rentals??? Have not heard of it, but sounds like a great big potential legal liability mess to get into with an individual you don't know. Is the car registered properly? Is it a stolen vehicle? Do they really have liability insurance? Etc., Etc.. What is the name of the rental company?

We have Turo here, and basically, you go to someone's house and pick up their extra card. For traveling around, I would be skeptical because you have no idea how well-kept their car is, what is their policy on a breakdown, and what is your liability if something goes wrong and you get blamed. Stick to the traditional rental companies. Trying to save a buck could cost you a whole lot more.

Hello,

I have used Turo in the states a few times...super easy, quite a bit less expensive. Just like Airbnb/Vrbo, folks who have used the vehicles leave reviews. I love not having to shuttle to get the car. In the states, some even deliver to your location. My last rental in Sacramento, CA, the owner left the car in the airport parking garage, it had a lock box on it with the key in it..couldn't have been simpler. Turo & it appears, auting both provide insurance coverages, + my credit card will also provide coverage. I am very tempted to try auting for our upcoming Italy trip...
