Has anyone ever had dinner or lunch at Osteria Francescana in Modena?

We are on a waiting list however due to our extreme time limitation I highly doubt we get in. We are very much into local foods here, sustainability and organic. Has anyone had lunch or dinner there?

We had dinner there in the spring and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. We only went because we were meeting friends there and they had made reservations including us as a "surprise for us and they were going to pay. I believe that it was over 180 euros per person. It wasn't worth it. You have to reserve a long time in advance yet when you get there, you have to wait outside until they let you in. Our friends had reserved there before and got there to find that they had cancelled their reservation since someone the restaurant thought might spend more had asked for a reservation. That alone would keep me from reserving again but our friends really wanted to go.

When you get in, be prepared to wait. And wait. And then wait some more. It's expensive but they don't treat you as if it is. The wait staff is rude and indifferent and find you a bother to wait on. The food was gross. Their idea of a salad is a little plate with 2 leaves on it. All the food is tiny. There is a lot of disgusting things- snails (I have them in my garden and would not eat the slimy nasty things), fish eggs, and other unspeakable gross things. Everything clashes, tastes awful, and comes in servings that would leave a 6 month old baby hungry. The desserts are okay but servings are as large as your thumbnail.

If you don't get in, count it as a blessing.

When I read the horrible description from above I told my husband the person must be from a southern state. I just saw TN..I was correct lol. I am sorry you had a bad experience however food to us is an experience . We go to a place here in town that is also very creative. I have read all the reviews on Yelp and every single one was a positive one. If I get a table I shall report back.

Not sure why what state a respondent is from would have anything to do with how they felt about their meal? The question was answered by someone who'd been there; maybe a 'thank you' might have been in order?

You may also want to check the profile of the individual who issued that response.
