I'm really interested in attending this HH. I've heard so many good things but I'm wondering if viewing the Sistine Chapel at night will be good (I know it will be different than daytime). We will be there the last week of Sept. so I don't know how long it will stay light. I'm concerned that I may regret not seeing in the daylight but I do love the idea of it not being as crowded as daytime. Thoughts?
TIA
Robin
I have been there both day and night. No real difference.
Thank you Bob. I read that St. Peter's closes at 7 p.m. Do you know if you can get in at 6 to see it before it closes?
If you cannot for some reason use the door connecting the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter's, you will have a long walk around the exterior of the building and usually a really significant security line to go through. The status of the connecting door has been known to change.
Regarding the passage between Sistine and basilica:
The earliest ticket for Museums Happy Hour isn't until 6:00 (18:00) and the church closes at 7:00, You wouldn't have time to do both, even if the passage is open to non-tour visitors. As per your similar question in another thread, you'd need to visit the church earlier and then make the 15-minute or so walk to the museum's entrance with your Happy Hour timed-entry voucher.
The second available HH time looks to be at 7:00 (19:00).
