Has anyone been to Genova?

Anyone visited Genova before? What's there to do or see? Does it have any interesting churches or museums to visit? Is the train ride to Casella a worth-while experience? Is there any good hiking up in Casella?

I was just considering making Genova a stop on a future trip, and I didn't know if it warranted a visit or not. And if so, for how long. Is it worth a one or two night stay or can you essentially cover the highlights with a day-trip from Cinque Terre?

Any info/help/suggestions/prior experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Cathedral, couple of museums (one is oriental art), doges palace, one of a thousand places Columbus was born. Old Port is mildly interesting, but nothing unique. Adequate aquarium (Valencia, and even Monaco, are better).

Ho hum. Give it half a day if you have nothing better to do.

Of Casella, I know nothing.
