Has any stayed at Convents instead of hotels in Rome?

Hi, I just bought this year's RS Italy Book. As I read thru the part regarding Rome, Rick mentioned about 'Casa di Santa Brigida'. I am not sure how much is the rate yet but when I looked thru Venere, in Navona area it runs to almost 200 Euro and above.

There are many convent or monastery options in Rome... at all different prices. You might look at this article, Hotel Alternatives in Rome

Sally, try this email: [email protected] This is the convent Casa di Santa Brigida, Monserrato 54, overlooking Piazza Farnese. It is very close to the Campo de' Fiori. A very clean place, the sisters are quite accomodating, and many speak English. I address my emails to Sr. M. Gertrude. They are somewhat pricey (E110-190 single/double). I think it is fab. The beds are twin, so it's not a romantic deal, but you can push together : ) They arranged for private taxi with "the only taxi we trust" very early for the trip to the airport for my girlfriend and I. I highly recommend. They will ask for a personal check, which I mailed and got a receipt. When we checked in they were quite aware we were coming, but it was a bit disjointed on getting checked in. Very relaxed however, elevators, open and airy and large. I think you'd love it. It takes 5 minutes to walk to the Piazza Navona, etc.
