Hello. When my spouse and I travel, we like to try to find handmade dolls for our Granddaughter. Not to play with but rather for display in her room. We've had the fortune to buy handmade dolls (Steiff bear in Germany) through out other countries in Europe, now would like to add to her collection. We will be in Ortisei and Venice. Does anyone know of a shop in either place? To be honest, doesn't necessarily need to be a doll, something unique is what we're looking for. Thank you, Candi

The Val Gardena is a center for wood carving. You'll find lots of shops.
This guy is the top end, and you will not find his stuff in the souvenir shops, but maybe in a few New York galleries. We got to visit his studio when we were there.

Venice has carnavale masks. They come in many sizes and colors. Great for displays.

In Venice, near the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, there's a shop called 'Il Pavone Stamperia', where they make and print their own block prints, and sell blank books with beautifully printed covers, canvas bags, and other items. I bought one of their little blank books a few years ago, and think something like that would be really special for a child.
