Handicapped Accessibility - Vernazza

I need a room that is a very modest climb. My husband uses a cane. Of course I would like a view, etc. Do youhave a recommendation?

All of vernazza will be a climb, but we stayed in a room on the piazza, with only 7 steps to the front door. Look up francamaria rooms, and you will want room 1, or 2. Understand that is is a little bit of a walk to the trains, but I think you will be fine.
Enjoy, Jeff

Of the 5 villages, you have chosen the one that is the least user friendly for folks with walking issues. How much does he rely on the cane? How is his gait? How high can he lift his leg? How is he while walking up or down steep, uneven ramps?

Would Monterosso be a better option for you two? I seem to remember it being MUCH more flat that the rest of the towns.

I agree that Monterosso is a better option for you having just returned from 5 days there. I stayed at Agave in the newer part of town with an ocean view up two wide sets of 7 or 8 stairs. Just outside the train station to the left. There's a very nice cafe right across the street for breakfast and lunch overlooking the beach. The Cinque Terra is a region of serious climbing everywhere, but in Monterosso you can stroll with less climbing and more sea views than the other towns and more options for dining, too. Enjoy your stay in Cinque Terra. It is lovely.

Thank you all so very much!!!

In answer to questions about his mobility, I share the following information. Nearly 10 years ago he had a serious fall from which he has permanent damage to the soft tissue in his ankle and foot to the point of swelling and pain after constant use. His ankle is fused, with about 20% movement. So I guess you could say his gait is not normal.

We have taken vacations since this accident where we've done a fair amount of walking. Aside from being required to elevate his leg at night, we've done ok. But no hiking is possible, for sure. And we're anticipating spots to rest and have a beverage. Should we/could we visit by boat instead? Any recommendations welcome. We'll check out Montarossa. Thank you everyone!
