Hand held luggage on Easy Jet

I have a carry on bag for an Easy Jet flight from Naples, Italy to Edinburgh, Scotland.
In looking at the website it appears that I could pay 4€ to carry on a small backpack at the time I check in. Am I interpreting this correctly? Our carry on luggage is well within the size and weight restrictions actually smaller ..
However because of the temperature differences between Naples and Edinburgh, I would like to carry a small nylon back back with extra layers and a purse inside it. Can I pay a minimal fee to have this extra backpack as part of my carry on? Or do I somehow need to fit my purse into my carry on and wear my extra layers?

iowa,

easyJet normally only allows ONE carry-on item per passenger and that doesn't include one plus a "personal item". However as I recall, paying for the "easyJet Plus" option provides a lot of extras such as Speedy Boarding, advance seat selection and additional baggage allowance. I've been paying for the extras for the last few years and it sure makes the budget flight experience a lot easier.

Be sure to print your Boarding Pass in advance.

Ken is correct. The Easy Jet plus option, or whatever they are calling it is the way to go. Takes care of your extra bag, gets you seats, but most importantly, gets you on the plane first. We saw many folks who did not choose this having their carry on bags gate checked as the bins were full. It’s quite a scrum boarding unless you are first on, so pay the difference.

You could put on your extra layers at the airport once you arrive in Scotland. Easier to do so in an airport restroom rather than the one on the airplane

Totally agree with Ken. I had to cram my purse ( which was not small ) into my carry on bag and it was not easy. Easy Jet is very strict about this.

I recently flew EasyJet and paid for a checked bag. It was my understanding, from info on their website, that I could also take a carry on and one personal item. When I got to the airport, I was informed I needed to check carry on for €8, which would get me the benefits other's have mentioned. A small price to pay for the extras. However, when I told the person at the counter that I thought the info on the website was confusing, she took the bag and didn't charge me for it. Either way, €8 is the most you'll have to pay.

Some additional information to add to my previous post. The Speedy Boarding alone is worth the extra cost, as that provides an expedited baggage drop. On my last flight, there was a huge queue at the "regular" baggage drop, but only one person in front of me in the Speedy Boarding queue. The whole process only took a few minutes. Boarding before the boarding stampede starts and getting an empty bin is also worth the cost.

On a different, but related, subject I checked with EasyJet about carrying on a personal item AND a CPAP (medical) -- I was told that the CPAP would not incur charges. Hope the gate agent at check-in time agrees!
