Going to Hallstatt Sept 22 and 23. We would like to stay in the old town by the lake. Any suggetions.

It's in Austria, close to Salzburg. Great small town with Five Fingers panoramic platform.

Was there on a RS tour. We took a cruise around the lake. I did the salt mine tour and thoroughly enjoyed it! The walk up there was wonderful as well.

There is a "Hallstadt" in Germany about 70 km north of Nuremburg
Between spelling variations and a seeming duplication of place names, I was the victim of confusion.
Can I get recommendation for a hotel in Vancouver and Portland?

Good one, Joe32F. Is that Vancouver WA or Vancouver BC ? Portland OR or Portland ME ? Or one of the others ??

Hallstatt (with this spelling) is a beautiful town on the lake in Austria. Easy to get from Salzburg with one train change. To stay in the old town by the lake you have to book early.
