Half-Price Pitti Palace (Florence) Tickets

I just stumbled on this notice on the Uffizi website (https://www.uffizi.it/en/notices/pitti-morning-discount)

"Visitors to Pitti Palace who purchase their ticket before 8.59 am and enter the complex in the museums' first time slots (8.30 to 9.25 am), are entitled to a 50% discount on the price of admission."

The regular price is 16€.

Don't forget the availability of the 5-day PassePartout that covers visits to the Uffizi *(which must be the first visit), Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens and the Museum of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure.

Good info!
It doesn't look as if you can get this discount for the Pitti (Galleria Palatina, Galleria Arte Moderna) if purchasing online, however. Just doing a dummy booking for a random weekday in April, the website doesn't show a purchase option for an entry ticket before a 9:00 am time slot, and that 9:00 am entry ticket is not discounted. Just guessing that this is an at-the-door discount only?

I guess so. I quoted the entire announcement I saw on the website. It sounds as if they have little traffic early in the morning and are trying to boost visitation. I assume there's no significant line to buy tickets so early in the morning--though I have no personal experience of doing that at the Pitti Palace (or much of anywhere else, to tell the truth).

I think the Uffizi is usually the hardest to get into. I went yesterday around 11.00, waited in line for about 10 minutes to buy an immediate entry ticket. There were a lot of people in the galleries but no crowding at any of the paintings.

The last time I was at the Pitti was in mid-May, several years ago when Florence was chockfull of tourists. There was only a 10-15 minute wait for tickets mid-morning.

I believe it's the Uffizi and the Accademia that the guidebooks especially warn about. However, if you've only got 2 days in Florence (as many Amercians seem to), spending even ten minutes in line could be frustrating.

Right. Unless things have changed over the last number of years, there wasn't much of a line for the Pitti at all. It was the Uffizi and Accademia that had long ticket lines. Maybe someone who has it on their to-do list this spring/summer can give us a report?
