We only have a half day in Milan, besides the Duomo and rooftop terrace, what should we try and see??
Two other possibilities are the historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (shopping area) and the historic Brera District. I'm sure there must be good museums in Milan, but I haven't been to any.
Walk (actually ride the escalators) through the huge La Rinasciente department store next to the Duomo. On the top floor is a food court that puts American ones to shame with a cafe that overlooks the Duomo. Nice place for lunch, far better than the cafes in the Galleria.
Besides the roof of the Duomo, our favorite thing in Milan is the Monumental Cemetery --- we've been to a few others, but this one is soooooo over-the-top. However, it's too big to see in half a day, but maybe you could see part of it. Look at some Google Images of the melodramatic, giant tomb sculptures and see if you would like this sort of thing.
Thanks, everyone! The department store looks like a great choice for lunch and the cemetery looks very intriguing!!
