hair dryer

I know this sounds like a weird subject but wanting to know if most hotels have a hair dryer in the room. I am going on the small village italy tour and wanted to know. thanks.

I was on the Village Italy tour last year. Every place we stayed had a hair dryer in the room. As did the apts I rented in Rome and Venice and my B&B in Ravenna before the tour started, and the hotel in Milan where I stayed after it was over.

In fact, in traveling annually since 2009, there has been only one hotel room that lacked a hair dryer and I bet I could've gotten one from the front desk if I'd only thought to ask.

We are in the midst of a one month trip in Europe staying at hotels and B&B’s. Every place has had a hair dryer, but there is not always an outlet in the bathroom and sometimes you have to search for the hairdryer!!

Great thanks! I figured they would but since in the description of the trip they talk about smaller, unique type hotels i was a little worried. Don't want to have to tote a hair dryer around! Really looking forward to the trip in May 2019.

It's not weird - in fact, it's one of the most frequently asked questions!

Assuming you mean the Rick Steves Village Italy tour, call the tour office to make sure. They can check for the specific hotels your specific tour departure date is using. But these days, most hotels do indeed provide hair dryers.

As said above, the dryer may be hidden away, in a desk drawer. Or you may have to ask for one at the front desk. In the UK, it's actually not allowed to have standard electrical outlets in bathrooms, so they either have a hard-wired hair dryer attached to the wall, or have the hair dryer in another part of the room. In Italy, it will vary. So, if you don't see it right away, don't panic-ask.

In my experience, most hotels, B&B's and rental villas have hair dryers - not all though. I take a Babybliss travel dryer with me (it has dual voltage and is small and super lightweight) along with a travel converter that is rated for hair dryers, hot rollers and flat irons.

Over 400 nights in Europe in recent years. I'd guess about 100 lodgings, mostly in the budget or low moderate price range. Hairdryer not available in only one, a low-end apartment in Burgas, Bulgaria.

They will always have a hair dryer. It is often very low power / poor quality though.
Using one for a few minutes sometimes shuts it off / gets too hot and must be then rested before it will work again.

My wife is happy with the hair dryer provided 1 out of every 4 times I would say, but every hotel I have been to has at least had one.
Some of the nicer hotels you can ask for a better one from housekeeping / front desk than the standard room one if it is an issue for you.

I think for our next trip, we will purchase one for her with the European plug/power.
