My first trip to Italy. I have booked H10 Roma Città during my stay in Rome. Have anyone stay there, any comment ? If so can you suggest the best way to get to the Hotel ? I'm arriving by Train (Roma Termini, Italy)and leaving by Air (Leonardo Da Vinci Airport)
Thank you.
Usually the hotel itself is the best resource for that. Try emailing them.
It is a little out of the way. Not really walkable to the main sites but the hotel does provide a shuttle to the city center. Use it. If your incoming train would stop (most unlikely) at the Trastevere station I would get off there. Most likely you will have to take a cab from Termini. It is some distance. I would used a shared van/shuttle to the airport. The hotel will arrange it. That probably would be cheaper than a taxi to Termini and the train to the airport and much more convenient.
Hi..Thank you for the advise and yes I have email the hotel but they mostly advise to take taxi, so I'm wondering if there is any better option.
Maybe you need to explain what you mean by better options. It is either taxi, public transit, or walk. It is about a half mile from the Trastevere station and walkable if you can get to the station but certainly not from Termini. The metro doesn't come close. There is probably a bus route through that area but don't know the route. So that leaves the taxi. I don't think you have any other options IF you are staying at that hotel. There are lots of hotels that would be more conveniently located but probably at a higher price.
For your trip to the airport, you can take a local train from the Trastevere train station to the airport - 4 per hour, 26 minutes, EUR 5.50. Easier, faster and cheaper than going all the way to Termini and taking the Leonardo Express.
Be forewarned, though, that the trains might not run early enough to get you to the airport for an early departure.
Thank you
Good point, Michael. Trains work well for the late morning flights back to the States, but it's best to have the hotel arrange a cab to the airport for early morning flights.
Check out http://www.airportshuttle.it/ - they have the best rates for door to door airport shuttle service and is often times cheaper than the cost of cab + train and less of a hassle if you have luggage (which of course you will!). You can book online or just call them a day or two ahead of time. I’ve also been told Rome Cabs works well – www.romecabs.com, slightly more expensive but another similar option. If you do take a cab to/from Rome center to FCO airport, negotiate the price upfront. An “official” cab should be about $40 euro each way and no more.
I've put together some Italy tips for friends including museums, transportation, lodging in Rome, Venice, Florence, etc. I would be glad to email them to you if you'd like. Just send me a message and give me your email address and I'll send them to you.
Great...Thank you.
