We are planning to tour several towns in mid may. Probably Pisa, Siena, Assisi, Civita, Volterra & San G. We have found our experiences greatly enhanced by guided tours in the past, and we would like to find guided walking tours for many or most towns. However, this is proving difficult. It seems most of the towns only offer private guides. Since we are not part of a group, it is out of our budget to pay 100+ euros for a private tour. Does anyone have any good leads on tours in the region where you can just buy a ticket? We would happily pay 20 euros each for most walking tours.

We visited most of the towns you mentioned a few years ago. We just used Rick Steves book & did just fine. He gives a detailed walking tour of these towns. If you are going to San Gimiano, be sure and see Adamo. If you show him your Rick Steves book, he will turn to his picture and autograph your book and give you a tour of his winery.
