Does anyone have any recommendations for a company that you can book a day trip to the Tuscany region out of Florence? I figure it would be much easier to have a guided tour to San Gimignano/Chianti region, etc than to rent a car and do it ourselves. I'm looking at something that could combine wine tastings, sightseeing, etc. Thanks everyone!
Check out Tours By Roberto from Rick's book and tv show. They can pick you up in Siena or Florence for tours. I did a tour with Roberto this past September that was amazing to Montepulicano, winery, food on a farm and the hills. I'm doing a Chianti tour with him this upcoming August.
We took a full-day (10 hr), private tour into Tuscany with Giuseppe Aulisa of Florence Tour (www.florencetour.com; [email protected]) in March 2011. Guiseppe and his wife, Paola Migliorini, own the company. Their 8-pasenger mini-van was very comfortable and Giuseppe (a native of Florence) was an excellent guide. We had arranged to visit Volterra, San Gimignano, Monteriggioni, and Siena, and worked out all of the arrangements with Paola by e-mail months before we left for Italy. Giuseppe was very punctual in meeting us at our hotel in Florence on the arranged day. He dropped us off at the center of the towns and then we arranged for a time to meet him to go on to the next town. We were always a few minutes late getting back to the van, but Giuseppe was very patient about it. I note on their website that they also do wine tours. I would highly recommend Florence Tours. I believe that they are listed in the RS Florence & Tuscany Guide.
