Hello, we are visiting as a family incl 2 teens towards end of May. Very interested in better understanding the history of the Colosseum+Forum+Hill with a guide but unable to find any such option on the provider site we are directed to, colosseo.it
1. Is it possible to get the tickets from the site and hire a guide separately? it is unclear from the site whether such options exist. (Appears to be a new site and some links are not up yet). If this is not possible, any feedback if audio guide would suffice for Colosseum, Forum and the Hill? We do not have any time constraints so can take time looking around on our own, although guided tour would be preferred option.
2. Didactic option is available in coopculture but not in the new site. Seeking confirmation in case I am missing the option somewhere.
Thanks!
I cannot answer your questions, but I can offer some worthwhile advice.
I toured the Colosseum and Forum with Rome-based guide Francesca Caruso as part of a Rick Steves tour in 2022. Here's her website and contact information: https://francescacaruso.com/
Francesca was fabulous! She speaks perfect English, has an academic's grasp of the sites and inspires thought.
Our group also toured the Ostia Antica site with her, and she was wonderful on it, too.
If you have seen Rick's video about fascism, Francesca appears on it. She talks with him about Italy's experiences during that period.
Websites like TripAdvisor, Expedia, and Tiqets will bring up tons of guided tour options with reviews.
Thank you, Craig. I checked out Francesca's website and walking around with someone so knowledgable is very appealing. I will send her a note now.
Thank you for recommending the other websites. I had checked them out. Tiquets looks promising and I will research more today.
You're welcome! Enjoy beautiful Rome.
