Will be in Firenze in late September and web says Guicci Museum is closed -- any one visited there lately? I wanted to show some friends this great museum. Thanks, Suzanne
It was open when I was in Florence in March, but the official website says it's "temporarily" closed and to watch for posting of a reopening date. I found an Italian news article from May that suggests Gucci may be relocating the museum and converting the building on Piazza della Signoria to a more profitable use.
As an option ck out the Salvatore Ferragamo shoe museum in Florence.
Works at the Gucci museum, as well as works to several places in the Florence center, have been stopped for a few weeks weeks due to a judgement of the Supreme court that made illegal the procedure to authorize said works. An article of the building code had to be rewritten in Parliament and was approved just a few days ago, allowing works to resume as soon as possible.
