Just wanting some options about staying 2 nights in Gubbio or Assisi. We have been to Assisi once before, just an overnight stay, never been to Gubbio. Will be on a self guided bike trip (i.e, no group, just me and the hubby on our tandem in Italy) We have the option of making Gubbio a 2 night stay instead of Assisi. Which town do you like better; will Gubbio offer us something to do for one entire day? (other than get off the bike seat after 6 days of riding!) We should arrive on the bike around noon or slightly later into Gubbio, and I want to make sure we have enough time to see all the sights. Same would be for Assisi if we just did one night there. I loved both towns very much. I would choose Gubbio, though, just because it's such a unique and stunning town. It's great just to wander around. We enjoyed visiting the Palazzo Ducale and Basilica of Sant'Ubaldo (you can hike up the hill to the basilica or take a lift). We took a bus there and it seemed like uphill ALL THE WAY. Something to consider when biking.
