We have travelled to Italy many times and have seen a lot of the country. We tend to go back to favorite areas and try to explore the region a little more each time. Our next trip is Oct/Nov 2016. We are thinking of spending a little time in Gubbio, does anyone have any hotel recommendations? Any other information welcome as well. We will be using public transportation as we will not have a car.

I loved Gubbio on my last driving trip and chose this hotel due to budget and proximity to the main square/parking/bus stop at Piazza 40 Martiri. Owners were friendly and it also had a popular restaurant: www.grottadellangelo.it. Here is another very friendly restaurant where I enjoyed lunch: ristoranteulisseeletizia.it.

It's been many years but Hotel Gattapone still gets excellent reviews, centrally located, about €90 double.
Be sure to go to the sanctuary of Sant'Ubaldo.
