Group travel, wedding?

Daughter wants to go to Italy to get married. No big affair planned-perhaps a ten minute ceremony somewhere lovely along the way. My issue-we will have 10-12 people. Her big desires are Rome amalfi and Pompeii. I’d love to do cinque terre. We will have 10-12 days. Struggling with renting three care or taking the train? Need to be somewhat cost effective as I am paying for the group! Think she’d prefer a few spots and stay a bit rather than trying to see as much as possible. Rome is a must...any tips? Ideas? Rental cars or train?? We’ve driven in Rome so are aware of the...fun that that is. And the parking issues! Open to changing our plans of someone has ideas! Need to get on this as many places are already booked. Oh! Last two weeks of April next year. Would love any input. Thanks so much in advance.

Short answer: It depends on where you want to go. Since you are a group you can probably get some kind of discounted group tickets if you travel by train.

For the time you are planning, trying to do Cinque Terre just does not work, with the other destinations. ( assumes you want to do something other than 'traveling' to the next stop all the time)

Convoy 3 cars in Italian traffic? The train is your friend

April 2022 is 'booked'? Perhaps that is too far out to be looking ?

The train is your friend, for sure. If you're there somewhere in the April-October time frame, the ferry would be a desirable way to get around the Amalfi Coast.

Yeah, places are not booked for April 2022; they haven't set their 2022 rates yet.

I believe people have stated on this forum that having the official wedding ceremony in Italy is very difficult for a foreigner. I believe many people do the legal part in the US and then something unofficial in Italy.

Forget cars. Take the train between destinations.

For Amalfi and Pompei, hire a van and driver. This way they do the driving and everyone gets to enjoy the scenery. You could do this in Rome as well. No cars in the Cinque Terre.

First, sort out the wedding part (official or ceremonial, etc.). Wedding planners are abundant on the Amalfi Coast.
There is no way I'd herd three cars around in those spots--they are some of most beautiful places in Italy with excellent public transport, absolutely no need for cars. Perhaps you would want a van transfer for some portion.
I also think this is an issue of being too early (and the tourism industry being in crisis) more than places being booked, but I suppose some people are planning way early in anticipation of the world getting back to normal (fingers crossed!).
If you can fly into Rome and out of Naples, then I'd start with Rome, enjoy a few days and then head to your Amalfi pick for the remainder. Cinque Terre would add a lot of travel for the type of experience that you can get on the Amalfi Coast (dramatic coastal scenery and hiking), so I see no need to duplicate and waste all that time in transit.
If you need to fly round trip to Rome, then arrive Rome, head immediately to the coast and put your Rome time at the end.
One thing the Amalfi Coast is not is economical, so if you interested in alternatives, you could look at Rome plus an island like Ponza, but April would be quite early. Southern Tuscany's coast is also amazing, but I think it would also be a bit early--and there is nothing like Pompeii anywhere of course.
