Any recommendations on getting 5 students on a shuttle type transportation from FCO to Rome City Center?
Leonardo Express?
How old are these students?
If they are students that will be staying or touring in Italy they may as well learn to ride trains/use public transportation
Taxi is fixed rate 50 euros for up to 4 passengers
Not sure how much for 5
Probably still cheaper than LEx5
Door to door service
How many people in all?
A service like this -- https://www.suntransfers.com/ with door to door service may make sense.
We are paying 90 Є for 6 w/ luggage from FCO to Pantheon area (booked through our VRBO host but comparable to what I've found online for private book-ahead transport). Five hits that threshold where you need enough seats plus luggage room that it's almost the same as a minivan or minibus. For us, the private car was cheaper than the train to Roma Termini plus buses or a taxi to city center (16,50 Є pp plus another 1,50 Є pp for LDV train and bus).
If they are going somewhere other than Termini, the regional trains are an option. I see the price for 5 going to Roma Tuscalona, Ostiense, or Trastevere is 40 EUR.
Even though you didn't mention the ages of the students, I have visions of trying to herd cats . The easiest, most practical way to get them and their luggage to the hotel will be a private car service. After a long flight, some jet lag, and being on unfamilar turf, nothing is better than having a private driver meet the group in the terminal and take charge of them there. We've used Rome Cabs (a private car service despite the name) a number of times from the airport to the ciy and from the city back to the airport. Just google them for information. We simply send an email detailing our needs and we get a reply within 24 hours. A private car service will cost a little more than other means of transportation, but after a long flight, probable jet lag, and possibly grumpy students, it's definitely worth it. Some say have your hotel make the arrangements. But you might get a car service at a higher rate, a free lance "taxi", or a relative of the desk clerk. Who knows?
These are students, yes? Maybe on a budget? Put them on the bus for 7 Euro. Or else the cheaper train.
I just returned from a trip to Rome over Easter break. Party of 5. FCO to Doubletree Monti and for our return. We used Welcome Pickups. Our car both ways was a roomy- Mercedes-Benz van. Perfect.
