Grocery and wine store near terminal in Venice

We are going to be boarding a cruise ship in Venice, and want to bring some wine and soda on board. Is there a decently priced large grocery nearby, or perhaps a short bus ride away?

I don't recall ever seeing a large grocery in Venice, but there are small stores in every neighborhood. Prices are always a fraction of the price in touristy areas (e.g. 0.30 euro for half liter bottled water verus 1 euro). If no one on this site knows of a grocery near the port, ask a local when you get there. I'm sure there must be at least one within walking distance. If arriving by train, ask about a grocery near the station. Prices will still be decent, but probably not as low as the small stores used by locals.

There are many shops o the Lista Di Spagna near the train station. Not as cheap as a large grocery store (there's a Coop somewhere nearby) but wine in Italy is very cheap.

Hi Carol,

I was just wondering what cruiseline you are cruising on. We traveled several times with Royal Caribbean and unless your wine or liquor is in your suitcase and passes through the x-ray scanner undetectable they will confiscate it and give it back to you the night before your disembarkment. Even if you buy alcohol on board at the duty free ship store it is held until the night before your disembarkment. I was in Greece last June and boarded the ship with a bottle of wine I purchased while on an excursion and they held it until the last night of our cruise.
