Greve-In-Chianti HELP

We'll be in Florence for week in May and I'm thinking about taking the bus from Florence to Greve for the day. What is there to do in the area of GREVE near the bus station and within say a twenty minute walk? Are there places to sample local wines? A local market or fun local restaurant? Is there some "local color" or is it pretty touristy? I'm told the Sacred Art museum there is pretty interesting. Is it walking distance from town?

Most of the organized wine tours of the area are around a 100 euro a person ---- and given what the exchange rate is doing to our three weeks of logding and extra 200 euro isn't an option.

Any help of advice--- or alternate suggestions MOST gratefully accepted!

Greve is great. One of the best things about it is the market day on Saturday mornings - just terrific! You can sample the wines at the tasting room located on the main road (S222) just downstairs from the COOP store. I will say that if you can't be there on a Saturday I wouldn't make a special trip. Go to S. Gimignano or Volterra instead. Have fun.
