Greve, Chianti in July

We will be staying in Greve, Chianti for a week in July. Will have a car. Any suggestions on places to visit that aren't super crowded? And I understand it can get very hot in July. Any suggestions of activities to manage the heat?

Rent a place with a private pool. It will be crowded only to the extent of the size of your party.

Unfortunately the Chianti hills aren't very high, so you won't find much relief trying to go up in altitude. The sea breeze is not close by either. Stay in the shade and visit those old monasteries with thick walls.

Florence will have significant amounts of crowds in the city center. Siena may also be crowded, especially on July 2, because of the Palio. Other than that most crowded places will be on the coast on weekends. But it's generally manageable.

Recommend Ristorante di Lamole in the tiny village of Lamole. It is excellent with views over the Chianti hills. There is also a winery (Lamole di Lamole) nearby that sells excellent wines. We did a tasting there last fall- very memorable!
