I BIG THANK YOU to the Rick Steves traveler who recommended staying at the Una Hotels Ala Venezia. What a great place! We so enjoyed being there in June. You're a 2 minute walk to the San Giglio vaporetto stop and also just a 10 min walk to St. Mark's Square. You're really close to the Dusodoro area as well. The breakfast was wonderful and included with the room - a huge spread in a delightful and cheery room with windows overlooking the canal. We opted for a top floor room and while the size was ample, it did not get enough fresh air. The only window was a skylight that could be opened - but just a little. The a/c was excellent, however. I would definitely stay there again but would get a room with large opening windows.
Glad to hear the Hotel Ala is still an excellent choice
We have no need to look elsewhere when we head back to Venice
It is perfect
Do consider the hotel al ponte mocenigo too, we loved it so much we're returning this fall.
Glad you enjoyed it! I know several of us have recommended it.
I recently stayed there in June, and kudos to them for extending my travel voucher date expiration beyond a year, so I could stay three nights there. It was a voucher because the 2020 trip couldn’t happen. I will be there again late August when my daughter & I are in Venice - her first time to Europe.
I also like that it’s close to La Fenice for operas and the San Vidal church for symphony concerts.
I’m not sure if the RS tours still use it, but our first time we stayed there, my husband & I ran into our guide from our Best of Italy tour! He had a tour group staying there, and we noticed the typical note in the reception room.
I haven't been back to Venice for just about 3 years now, and I'm glad that our fav hotel is still up to the mark. Glad you liked it...
Quick question regarding the Hotel Ala. Is it only for adults and kids older than 16 years?
Yes, that is correct. Children must be 16 or older. If you book directly with the hotel, you get a free excellent buffet breakfast.
