Great place to stay in Florence?

Hi,
There are a group of us going to Florence for 2 days in late May. We would love to find a little place to stay that's off the beaten path. Any great suggestions of someplace for 6 of us?....We'd take any suggestions of funky little spots to eat as well! First time for all of us! Thanks!
