Great Italian train app

I just found this train app called Trenit. Simply type in the name of your departure and arrival towns using the Italian name fore the town ie. Roma and the list of train stations pop up. You can look at train routes, schedules and prices 2 weeks out. It will also direct you to the Trenitalia site to purchase the tickets, however I have not done this. The other features I like is that it will list the platforms at each town the train stops. I find this very helpful knowing in advance which platform I need to go after getting off the train. It will also allow you to share your train itinerary in a variety of ways.

Keep in mind that track numbers (platforms) can change up to minutes before the train is scheduled to depart, always good to check the electronic board. Also, two weeks out will not get you the super-economy fares between the most popular destinations as Trenitalia would. Still, it sounds like a great app to use for planning, and for updates if you check on it before your train departs.

I am basically using this app for planning purposes. I like to know ahead approx. time schedules, stops, etc. prior to my purchase of the ticket at the kiosk for regional travel. I was able to book online the Italo train from Rome to Florence a few months back and got a great price.
