Has anyone ever toured any granite or natural stone quarries? If so any suggestions as to which ones are better then another?

Carrara Marble quarries in the mountains south of La Spezia, this is where the marble for some of Michelangelo's sculptures came from, including the David.

In southern Sicily, near Selinute. I can't compare, not having been to any other. It does put the size of the pillars (for the Greek temples)and their construction, into perspective.
