Does anyone have a recommendation for a gorgeous old hotel or two where a few gals could pop into the bar for a drink?

Hi Cindy--We stayed here once on a trip to Rome; they have a beautiful lobby and old-world type bar. The hotel is just up the street from Santa Maria Maggiore. http://www.mecenatepalace.com/it/
