Has anyone stayed at the Grand Hotel Del Gianicolo in Rome? Read mixed reviews. Sure like the idea of a pool after a long hot day of exploring Rome.
I haven't stayed there. It gets a pretty good and widespread number of reviews on TripAdvisor. So that will throw out the top and bottom reviews in the average.
If I were looking at a hotel which ranked in the bottom half of all Rome hotels, which pulled a steady 3 to 3.5 out of 5 I'd look elsewhere.
I guess you are hoping that somebody here will have been one of the 5s not one of the 2s.
Good luck finding the hotel which best meets your needs - and I hope you get a pool. It might feel nice, and help you slow down.
I attended a cocktail event there and I can tell you it is a beautiful property. One of the diplomats I know stayed there and liked it for a romantic weekend. That said, it's a bit off-the-path, which could be good, but be aware it will take you some time to come-and-go if you use public transportation. I like to stay more centrally when in a big city so I can go back to freshen up between "events." Also, note the pool is only open May-Sept and even the men have to wear bathing caps. :-)
