I've often compared the Grand Canal to one of the busiest roads I've ever seen. It might be nice to look at, but definitely think twice before boarding a gondola for a ride in the Grand Canal. http://www.thelocal.de/national/20130818-51453.html

This is very sad. When there, I did wish for traffic lights on the Grand Canal, even though that would definitely have taken away some of its charm.
