Gran Duca Di York - Milan

Thanks to the recommendations here (and Booking.com), we'll be spending two nights at the Gran Duca Di York. I just realized that it does not have a restaurant, which really isn't a problem, except that we are scheduled to arrive at Malpensa at 6:00 PM after a long day of flying. So I'm interested in a nearby casual spot to grab a light quick meal before crashing for the night. Any suggestions?

There are several cafes very nearby-literally steps away -not sure how late they’d be serving

You’re also 5 min walk to Duomo where there are lots of places to eat

Worse case scenario, there’s a McDonald’s close by!

You can also just ask or recs when you check in. They should know local spots, how late they are open and general ambiance.

ChristneH, I have been known to visit the Golden Arches when desperate. :-) And yes, asking the hotel is always an option. I was hoping for a more personal recommendation.

We ate at Pizzeria Piz, a short walk (3-5 minutes) from Gran Duca Di York. It's very casual, mostly younger crowd. They serve only three types of pizza -- margherita, marinara, and special of the day.

I’d also trust the folks there. On my first visit in 2014 they recommended a nearby osteria that was wonderful! Sadly it didn’t make it thru Covid….

Trotter
I just checked Google maps
We ate at Caffe Spadari just around the corner as you head towards Duomo
It was our last nite of a long trip
Pretty sure we had salads and a pasta and it must have been fine- nothing fancy
According to Google they are open til 9:30

We’ve eaten at McDs in Europe as well and TBH it’s always good - better than in US ;)

Thank you for the restaurant suggestions. And it's nice to know that the hotel's advice is reliable. My experience in the past with hotel recommendations has been mixed. Maybe because the Gran Duca Di York doesn't have a restaurant they take greater care when making suggestions.

It may also be that some of their staff seems to be long-term. I recognized some of the front desk staff last Fall from my 2014 stay!
