Gradara War Cemetery

I will be travelling to Italy in Sept. and will be starting in Venice and want to travel down the Adriatic coast. what would be the easist way to get to the Gradara war cemetery and what is the best town to stay in.. Are there any bus tours from any town along the coast that cater to someone that wants to visit a relative's grave.

Veronica, I'm also planning on visiting that area soon, perhaps on my trip next year, to visit our "sister city" (Tavullia) which was liberated by our local Regiment. I've done quite a bit of research on the subject, and from what I've been able to determine there are no tours of the historic sites available. Public transportation is also somewhat "limited" so a rental car will probably be necessary. I haven't decided which place to stay yet, but either Pesaro or Cattolica are possibilities. I may consider Urbino as well, as that's covered to some extent in the Guidebook. I'm leaning towards taking the train to either Pesaro or Cattolica, and renting the car there. You've probably already had a look at this, but here's a web link that provides directions to the Cemetery. www.battlefieldsww2.50megs.com/gradara_war_cemetery.htm Good luck and happy travels!

I've been to Gradara but unfortunately have no info about the cemetery. However, Urbino is not to be missed. It's a wonderful place to visit. And I'd highly recommend Pesaro over Cattolica for both lodging and car rental possibilities. You can get the bus from Pesaro to Urbino, so I'm guessing you could also get to Gradara on the bus; however, schedules are not always very convenient and getting bus info (whether while in Italy or before you go) is always a challenge!
