GPS in Sicily

Will the Garmon I purchased in St. Louis, work in the rental car I pick up at the Palermo airport? And will the directions be in English?

Claudia,

It depends on what model you purchased. Some come with European maps already loaded and some do not. I bought the model I did specifically because it included Europe. It added about $100 to the cost so if you weren't looking for European maps when you purchased it you probably don't have them. To check yours tell it to go to an address and when the prompt comes up for country try Italy and see if it takes it. If you don't have the maps pre-loaded you can go to the Garmin website and purchase a package that includes all of Europe and can download it to your gps.

GPS works fine on the main roads in Sicily, but not so well on the minor roads, so bring a good map.
