GPS help

We are planning to rent a car in Sorrento and drive to Tuscany, spend a week and then drop the car in La Spezia to spend a few days in CT. Apparently there are no GPS available in Sorrento and from what I understand they are very expensive to rent anyway. Our own GPS is not compatible with Europe maps available through Magellan, we already checked that out.

What have people done to access GPS in Europe?

I'd just buy a cheaper Garmin and then get the Western Europe map SD card.

The GPS technology is changing quicker than digital cameras so a lot of last year's models can be found for under $125

Been doing some research... Looks like for most of the brands getting the preloaded Europe maps seem to be cheaper than adding them later.

In the Garmin nuvi series, the models that have a 7 as the next to last digit in the model number have the Europe maps loaded with the Canadian and US,

Garmin has an online tool to help you choose the right GPS. www.Garmin.com I would suggest that you purchase one with European maps already loaded and ready to go. Buying separately is more expensive.
