Good week for visit to Venice in April?

Hoping to travel to Venice from Boston, MA USA for a week in Venice.
Are there any weeks to avoid?
Are there any particular highly regarded festivals or events to recommend in April?
Many thanks,
Joe & Diane

Hi-
it could still be chilly and wet in early April, at least it was for us a couple of years ago, it rained every day. Consider visiting at the end of April.

For events specific to Venice:

Su e Zo per i Ponti (Up and Down The Bridges)
is on the 10th of April this year. A bar crawl cum treasure hunt on foot throughout Venice.

Festa di San Marco
25th of April this year, also known as La Festa del boccolo (‘bud’): red rosebuds are given to wives and lovers.

Festa e Regata della Sensa
May 5th

Vogalonga
May 15th

Regarding Settimana della Cultura

I believe that is pretty much history now, in Venice. I can't find any records of it planned for 2016, and 201 was a washout, too.

Italy has run out of money and that sort of cultural festival was one of the first things to go. Shame.

Hello Joe and Diane,
We visited Venice this past April, end of April 2015
Flight out of Logan to NY to Milan and then train to Venice.
The weather was lovely, able to sit outside during the day. Walking around the city was wonderful.
By chance had an opportunity to watch Ron Howard shoot a movie scene in St Mark's square.
Enjoy your visit.

April 25: Holiday (Liberation day)
May 1: Holiday (International Workers' Day, i.e. Labor Day)
The period around these two holidays, along with Easter week, are the busiest tourist weeks in the Italian art cities (e.g. Venice, Florence, Rome).
Carnival is also very busy in Venice, along with other events, like the historic regatta, which however don't fall in April.
If you travel around this time, secure your reservations early.
