Good swimming Beach near Rome

My husband and I are traveling to Rome in the end of June 2015. We thought it might be nice to follow up with a few days at a beach where we could swim. We would need public transit and could stay near the the beach or back in Rome. Any ideas?

The obvious answer is Ostia Lido, about 30 minutes from Rome by public transportation. Google it to see if it appeals. There are hotels there and when you are tired of the beach you could visit the ruins at Ostia Antica.

Also Santa Marinella. Less than one hour by train from Roma Termini station. About two trains per hour on avg.
A little less crowded than Ostia Lido and a bit better beaches. But of course for the really good beaches you need to go farther afield from Rome, like the Circeo park or even better, Ponziane islands, like Ponza or Ventotene.
