Good spot for women to travel solo leaving from Venice for 3 nights

Will be traveling with my daughter in Rome, Tuscany area and Venice. She will be going home from Venice and I have three nights to travel solo until I head back to rome. Any suggestions of friendly and inspiring area to travel? Was thinking of Cinque Terre, any other ideas? Thanks...

I like the previous posters suggestions of either Verona or Orvieto.

Starting in Rome, week in farmhouse outside of Florence with car for day trips, Venice, then 3 free nights solo, last night back to Rome. Thanks!

Julie, it would help to know where else you'll be travelling with your daughter in the "Tuscany area"? There are lots of possibilities! Florence, Verona, Lago di Como, Stresa, Cinque Terre, Siena or perhaps Orvieto with a day trip to Civita di Bagnoregio (one of Rick's favourite hill towns). Staying in Orvieto would put you close to Rome, as it's only about a one hour train ride. Cheers!

Julie, As you'll be driving in Italy, one other point to mention is that each driver will require the compulsory International Driver's Permit, which must be used in conjunction with your home D.L. Failure to produce an IDP if requested can result in fines ON THE SPOT. The IDP can easily be obtained at any AAA office for very reasonable cost. These are valid for one year. For driving in Italy, a GPS unit or at least a good map are also highly advisable. Finally, be sure to read some of the other posts here regarding the dreaded ZTL areas which are increasingly prevalent in many towns in Italy (especially Florence). Passing through one of the automated Cameras will result in a €100+ violation notice EACH TIME. Cheers!
