Good Sorrento hotel

For those planning a future Sorrento stay, I may suggest looking at Sorrento City Hotel. We were there two weeks ago, and found this 3-star central hotel good value for the money. (Our cost was 72 euros a night, breakfast included, booked well in advance, for a mid-October stay. Rates may vary according to seasons.) We had picked the Sorrento City mainly for its location, smack in the middle of everything tourists need. Next door to a well-provided supermarket (including wine and Limoncello!) Steps from the main square, steps from tons of shops and restaurants, steps from the Circumvesuviana station, for trains to Pompei, Ercolano, and Naples, for SITA buses to the Amalfi coast, and on the bus line to Marina Piccola, for ferries to Capri. It's a central, lovely small hotel, with clean, not huge but adequate rooms, which include a small fridge and neat, if small, bathrooms. The friendly reception staff offers good English, and good advice and help if needed. An evening get-together on the top terrace is also offered, (2 euro) for drinks and appetizers. The main street the hotel is on can be noisy in daytime, but it becomes a pedestrian street in the evening. Great for sipping wine on a balcony and watching the passersby. No sea views here, but altogether an excellent hotel value.

So good to hear your review, I'll be staying at Sorrento City next week! The first stop on my Italy trip. Sounds like a perfect place to recover from jet lag!

We've been to Sorrento 3x in the past 6 yrs and stayed at La Tonnarella, which we love, but if there is a next time, we will stay here based on a previous post from someone recommending it and now yours. The location is perfect and the price even better. It looks great on their website. I just hope it doesn't get TOO popular and is booked when we return!
