Good restaurants Varenna area

I'm looking for a "special occasion" restaurant in or easily reached from Varenna. Any and all suggestions and ideas welcome!

Check out Ristorante Il Caminetto which is located just out of Varenna up the hillside. Here's the link: http://www.ilcaminettoonline.com/english.html
They will pick you up at the town square in Varenna and bring you back afterward. I took my wife there for her birthday and we had a fabulous time. It's run by Moreno and his family and they were very gracious with excellent dining. They also offer cooking classes.

Il Caminetto is nice and the food is great-we took the cooking class from Chef Moreno and really enjoyed it. But for a special occasion, it is hard to beat the ambiance of the terrace at Ristorante la Vista, the restaurant at Albergo Milano. The view out over the lake at twilight is memorable, and the food is very good. We dined there twice during our stay at Varenna.

Lola you have great taste. We ate at the La Vista 3 times when we stayed in Varenna last August. Erdigio and his wife are wonderful and welcomed us and our Jack Russell, Thor, who had a uneasy truce with their resident cats. The food and service was spectacular. Lisa, La Vista is a very fine special occasion restaurant. They have a little balcony off to the side with one single table that is nice and quiet for a more intimate experience. Make sure to enjoy an Aperol Spritz before dinner and their Picollino wine with dessert. Just thinking about that food makes me want to go back right now!!

They both sound appealing. We will be in Varenna for three evenings: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Las Vista is closed on Sunday and Tuesday and Monday is my husband's birthday (that would be the aforementioned "special occasion") so I guess, if we want to eat there at all, it will be where we celebrate. But since its a milestone birthday, we're doing lots of celebrating. I think we'll try for Il Caminetto on Sunday...the birthday EVE. Now I guess we need one for the DAY AFTER celebration. Suggestions?
Thanks for the all the input!
