We will be in Lucca for a week and would appreciate some good recommendations for restaurants. Thank you…
We just returned from a too short visit to Lucca. Since our visit corresponded to the Luminara and a cooking class we weren’t able to do more than two meals out. Trattoria da Gigi, Piazza del Carmine, 7 was good. It is well known and has good ratings-reservation a must. We enjoyed our meal-the best gnocchi I’ve had in a long time. Because we did the cooking class and had soooo much food, we wanted a smaller dinner and went to Maro Meo, Piazza San Francesco, 17. Pizza-but good.
Other restaurants recommended by our host and the chef at the school were: Trattoria Bucelli-chef said they go there about once a week. Gli Orti another for home style cooking.
Upscale:
Antica Osteria
Buca di Sant’Antonio
All’Olivo
Il Grammophono
Trattoria da Giulio-we tried but couldn’t get a reservation.
La Bottega di Anna e Leo
Breakfast:
Cafe Santa Zita
Lunch:
Cibo e Convivio (In pasta)
Hope this helps. Any gelato we tried was good although we stayed away from some.
Nice to hear you’ll have a week. Seems a perfect amount for Lucca. Our time was far too short.
Trattoria Canuleia was excellent
Didn’t realize at the time but it is listed in RS guide
Agree on Trattoria Gigi, All'Olivo and Canulea.
Will add Osteria da Pasqualino. Great food, atmosphere and owner.
Also Osteria Baralla.
You'll most likely need reservations. Enjoy.
Thank you all, appreciated. Anxious to try as many as we can. Grazie Mille. Susan
