Good Porchetta in Rome?

I'd rather not go out of Rome on our next trip in winter. Anybody know of good porchetta in Rome?

I could name some great places in Tuscan towns I had that. Not in Rome though. I can tell you were not to get Porchetta in Rome. Outside of Termini the street to the south that runs into republics fountain there is a small shop selling porchetta. I got a sandwich last week and it was awful.

No, nobody told me not to eat in Rome, I just don't want to travel far or inconvenient.

If there is a place available on a suburban railway line that would be good too.

I saw an episode of the Layover with Anthony Bourdain and he, being a pork aficionado, recommended I Porchettoni located at Via Del Pigneto, 68, Roma, Italy. It looked delicious. While some people may not care for his show, he does know where to eat well.

Well, even though "Pigneto" refers to pine trees, any name starting with "Pig" would seem promising when looking for porchetta!

Sadly, I don't know the name but do have the address-11 Via Alcide de Gasperi which is quite near Santa Maria alle Fornachi, which is quite near Station San Pietro-but it's consistantly sold out by 1 or so. Check it out on Google street view, the store with the Chrome tables and chairs outside.
Fortunately, will be at Santa Maria for 4 days' in November and am looking forward to picking up my Porchetta, a half bottle of Red, and stowing them in my backpack! Caution--it's not as good as the Porchetta that you can get at the indoor market near the street market in Florence, but it's close.

Hey Nige - If you need someone to do on-the-ground research, let me know. Happy to do a sampling for you. No extra charge.

There's a fine salumeria in Campo dei Fiori whose porchetta looks great. I buy salumi there all the time. Maybe we'll get a slab of porchetta and try it for you.

Go to Er Buchetto near Termini Station. It is known for having the best porchetta in Rome. It's been around since 1890 so they must be doing something right.

Great porchetta in the Castelli Romani if you get that far.

Hmmm, porchetta soooo good. But I have Not been able to touch the stuff since I pigged out on it the whole month of October in Amaseno. Well there wasn't much else to eat, guys!

Chef Express in Termini has a whole pig porchetta in their window with the head staring out at all of us. And they have overstuffed sandwiches already made up. Hmmm, I look at that porchetta every day.

Thanks everybody!

I'm really looking forward to try various ones and deciding on the best.

Thanks especially for the I Porchettoni located at Via Del Pigneto, 68 suggestion. It matches a write up of the Pigneto district which I have found in my research (Lonely Planet), and as I've never visited the district I'd like to look around.

Anybody have any other suggestions for things to do in Pigneto?

I'll have time to look at the other suggestions from all. Thanks
