Good Pompei tour groups

My friend and I are planning a trip to Rome in May. Does anyone know a good tour group to take a day trip to Pompei with that I can reserve spots now? Affordable is a must, we are in college. Thanks!

Viator offers a shuttle service to Pompeii for 60euros a person. You can get an audioguide for 4.5 euros which is very good.

Take the train from Rome. Change at Naples for the local. The stop is half a block from the enterance. Once there, rent an audio guide. Very very easy to do.

There are usually guides gathering groups at the entrance. If they get enough people (about 10) it ends up being about 10 euros per person for the guide.

Skip the tour if price is an issue. I am also going to Rome this year and plan a day trip to Pompeii. Just get a train ticket and spend the day with a map and common sense and you will still have a great day. Tain tickets in Italy are very reasonably priced, go to trenitalia.com to get prices.

Jeff and Nadine have some great advice for you.

You don't need a guided trip if you need to save $$$$.

Take the train to Naples, where you will visit the Archeological Museum (It is awesome...all the stuff that was in Pompeii is here), and then take the local train( Circumvesuviana) to Pompeii, where you can wait til they have ten people and go on a tour.

Buy a Rick Steve's Italy book and he details this out shwing you how simple and easy it is for you to be your own tour guide for this trip!

Have fun, and wear comfortable shoes! Pompeii is huge and the cobblestones are killers!
