Hi we'll be in Rome for 24 hours and wanted to know where best to stay (on a budget) so we could tour the Vatican? Which is the top of our list!
Where are you headed before and after? It’s easy enough to use a taxi or public transportation, I’d base my lodgings on ease of coming/going on your adventure.
I recommend the Prati neighborhood - it's within close distance to the Vatican. Many tour companies are located in the area as well
Also metro line A is there, so getting to the train station is easy
I second Prati. Lots of hotels and great restaurants. Easy bus options for exploring further.
Hi @Mary we go to Viertbo after then either to Florence or Venice.
Thanks @edward and @Claire
I just got back from Rome. I stayed at Camplus San Pietro for a week. The place is not fancy, but it is very functional, comfortable, and quiet. Their price was right for my tight budget. The Vatican Museum is about a 16 minute walk from Camplus. You'll also be near Castel Sant'Angelo. For places too far to walk, there are public bus lines a block away. It's off the beaten track, but well located.
