We will be staying in Siena, then need to drive to Florence to pick up friends, and then driving to our agriturismo near Pienza. We want to avoid driving into Florence to pick them up. Can anyone suggest a spot they could take a train or taxi to where we could meet them without driving right into the city?
Welcome!
Have them take the train to Siena
That will save a whole lot of driving since you are then headed to Pienza
The regional train is only 10.20 euros
Much cheaper than a taxi anywhere
Station
Firenze SM Novella
To
Siena
Trains every 30 min or so
Journey about 1.5 hours
Yes, that definitely sounds like the smartest plan!
I have to agree with Siena.
If you're looking to get on the road right away you can meet them at the train station which is already at the edge of town and you'll be ready to roll onto Pienza directly. Well, probably creep out of Siena and then drive to Pienza realistically depending on time of day.
If not you can show them some of Siena, take a walk, have lunch or whatever and then head to Pienza.
Sounds great, have a great trip,

If the train idea doesn't work for you, have them take the tram to the terminus at Scandicci. It's adjacent to the A1 / E35 autostrade. Search Google Maps for Parcheggio Villa Costanza
